I am considering the PC III for my 2008 Fat Boy. But I asked the Harley dealership a question about this product today that confused me more than I was. If the PCIII comes with O2 sensor eliminators can I install any exhaust that will fit the bike without the O2 sensor holes? Their answer was no. Why would this make any difference if the PCIII eliminates the O2 sensors? The dealership stated that they are seeing a lot of bikes with check engine lights on because of the PCIII and O2 sensor code faults, water intrusion to the PCIII, etc. Make me wonder why they sell them. Anyway is the Screaming Eagle race tuner that much better to buy? Looks like it may be way more complicated to install than the PCIII. So if the PCIII is the way to go, will 2006 exhaust bolt up to the bike. Looks like a person could save some money this way. Thanks for the help,
You will get a lot of opinions on this one. I went with the SERT.
I can if I wish turn off the O2 sensors with the SERT and get no error codes.
The SERT leaves nothing physical added to the bike.
The SERT allows me to hook up a laptop and do data runs on the road to fine tune for me.
The (You get the idea by now) allows me to keep the O2 feedback but manage the fuel to reduce heat.
I can control rev limit, and a host of other things.
I have run PC III's on other bikes and they also worked well, but that was before the O2 sensors, and I know what they can do, yet I still went with the more expensive SERT which may tell you something. Even if its only that I'm stupid.
TheSERT only plugs into the bikes diagnostic plug.You download the calibration using your home PC by following the directions that come with the SERT.
All the Maps and software are part of the SERT package. The new SERT`s don`t come with the cables anymore so you will need to buy them too. I think there around $40.00 bucks from the Stealer.
You pick the calibration that best fits your bikes setup and go from there. It`s easy. DIY and save money as well as learn how to work on your bike.
With the SERT you can look at real-time data, read codes, reset the RPM limiter, tune the timing andAFR maps, run closed course testing to iron out any problem areas you might have. You can also have a tuner Dyno it if you think you need it.
I am leaning toward the SERT after reading many posts. Did either of you install it your self or did the dealer do it?
There is really nothing to install, you just update the ecm program. Takes about 2 minutes including removal and replacement of side panel. So for wht its worth I did it myself.

The SERT replaces the other fuel controller boxes. No ECM interface is needed with the SERT. You flash program the bikes ECM directly with the SERT and supplied calibrations. You look at what calibrations are available in the software package that comes with the SERT and go from there. Don`t over-complicate something that is very simple.
Ok I am not trying to over complicate things. There is way more information out there on the V&H and PCIII. With all that information they seem much easier to program than the SERT. Pick out your bike, exhaust, air cleaner modifications and enter. I am going to go with the SERT and not look back. Hopefully some of these options will be available with the SERT. Programming the SERT canât be any harder than removing the heater core from a Ford Probe. Thanks for the help,
