Default Sluggish to start

Hey guy's and girls I have a 2001 Road king classic fuel injection, in the last 2-3 weeks bike has been sluggish to start, I charged the battery last night but it was still a little sluggish.Yesterday afternoon I was out at buddy house and I was sitting there idleing and when I went to give it gas it died,I the tried to start it back up but it was slowly turning over but nothing I then waited about 5 minutes then it started no problem. My voltmeter is at work so I can check when I get there if my charging system is good but I need to know what should it be reading while the bike is runing,I have no extras on it as far as electrical goes, thanks in advance for any info!

How old is the battery? If it is the one you got with the bike it's time to change it

Your battery should be around 12V. When Cranking it can dip as low as 10V. Cold idle should be around 13-14 volts. At part throttle to full throttle, you should never be above 14V. Hope this helps.

Give a quick once over to the battery connections, and all your ground wires. These have a tendency to vibrate loose over time.

Thanks for the replies guy's, the battery is only 1year old. What I don't understand is when the bike sits overnight it actually starts better than it does after you have been riding it. I have checked the connections at the battery they are good but I still need to check the connection at the starter. The volts at the battery are 12.7 with the bike shut off, when idleing it varies from that up to about 14. My bike has a very low idle it seems but I have taken it to the dealer twice inthe last 2 years just to get it adjusted a little higher. Thanks again for anymore info you guy's are awesome.

A hot engine will be harder to start anyway. But if it has low compression it'll really be hard then, as well as slower-starting when cold. Check your compression.
