I own a 2008 FLHTCUI. I am going to replace the exhaust system and the air cleaner/breather. I do not plan on any other modifications. Is the Power Commander the right choice? The unit I need is not available yet. I know there are others available but I have not heard good or bad. Any input?
I think there will be about four answer to your question, SERT,T-Max,PCIII,Fuelpak You need to do a little searching and decide for yourself. Whatever the person that answer your question uses will be the best. And it maybe for them, you just need to decide with what you plan on doing is it the best for you. But remember 3 months from now you may change your mind about mods. to the bike. Oh I went with the SERT. It's the best
Man you opened a can of worms there. I"ve heard everthing. Had dealers tell me that with a A/C and pipes ecu will adjust enough to cover them, no remap needed.I know 2 people that put K/N screanin eagle A/C, and Slip-ons on there bike and riden them to death. Not one Hic up. So opions on this subjectare a dime a dozen. Dealer said with these options only engine will be ok.Will it be perfect no . Will it burn motor down no.I installed Screamin eagle A/C today. Am waiting onthese items called 02 Inline Enrichment Device. They will be here Friday. I got to leave for Pharr, TX in morning. But i rode about 100 miles with A/C on bike. You can fell it pull out better.02IED should do the trick. I will have 190.00 in A/C and IEDs.Aint bad for a stage 1.
No T'Max yet, NO PCIII yet for 08 touring models, no release dates available. SERT or I do believe the fuel pak may be available. If you are just doing slip ons and AC, the dealer has a download for about a hund-fity....
Here is a bit more info. The Power Commander is not available yet partially due to the fact that the 2008 Touring bikes are "fly by wire" which makes it a bit more difficult to set up the rev limit part of the circuit. The mapping is not available as of yet either. I will be going to a true dual exhaust so slip-ons aren't the issue. I will be waiting for the new unit which was to be available in late November, now expected in late December. It may take a bit longer. Hopefully the bugs wil be out at production date.
