Gas Gauge issues...

Gas Gauge issues...
Man I get a Harley, and it has a Gas Gauge, LOL. So I thought anyways. I used to ride Hondas and relied on mileage on my trip. Anywho, I get a Fat Boy and from an individual with only 1800 miles on it. When I get it I crank the beast up and BAMMMM the gas gauge reads full. I'm thinking, man what a nice guy to fill up my tank before he ships it. So I go on feeling like a king blowing by on 1604, a highway in San Antonio, and she starts sputtering on me. At 70 mph she cuts out, and as I am holding the clutch in thinking to myself what the hell, she comes to again. So I keep on going for about another 5 miles and it happens again. This time it is relentless. I am having to toy with the clutch and keep reving it up as I get on the exit ramp, sputtering on and off. I see a gas station and am thinking in my mind either I am out of gas and the gauge is not working or I have a pinched gas line. I manage to literally coast to the gas station. I open the tank and shake the bike, and I dont hear any gas so I go to try to put some in. I get 5.1 gallons in and realize that stinking gas gauge is a piece of crap...... She road beautifully for the rest of the trip. I guess the gauge is just for looks. Ride on I say.
