gas gauge
hi i am having problems with my gas gauge on my 09 night rod. anybody know what i could be or where i could start to try and find the problem.
the gauge is always telling me the tank is full. every now and then it will give me the correct reading for a while.

sorry to give you the news. the gas gage is junk. you can replace it for 85 to 100 dollars but it is just going to do it again. i haven't had a gas gage in almost 2 years. it got replace 3 times on warrenty and i am not forken the money over when i know that in town when i get to 125miles time to fill it up. highway 170miles time to fill her up. might not be empty but i haven't ran out of gas in them ranges.

+1 on nightrodder's comment . . . our '09 Muscle has already had the ?float? in the tank replaced because of erratic gas gauge readings and a custom bike I had a few years ago with a HD fuel gauge system had the same issues. Reset your tripmeter at every gas fill-up and go by your miles . . . way more reliable, has worked for me since before they thought of gas gauges on motorcycles!
