I thought I had it set up right and I went through the initializing process but I can't seem to get a smooth idle. It's idleing around 2300. I let it idle high for 10 sec. then turn the key off,I did this over and over with no change to the idle. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, any suggestions would be great.
Oh yeah,I know about Tech support and how great they are. I also know I'm working on my bike this weekend and Tech support is available Mon. through Friday 12 till 5 pm. So, if I'm unable to work this out with the help of the Forum I'll be calling themon my lunch break Mon.
I'm assuming you have all the settings correct so I would do this. Make sure the throttle is hitting the idle stop on the TB. It will have a clicking sound if normal. Link to module and read map and settings. Clear the learned idle control adjustment..IAC and thenWrite module maps and setting back to module. This is done in map editing feature. Pull the ECM fuse for a couple of minutes and then reinstall fuse. Do the normal initializing. Turn ignition on and start engine.
Thanks guys,I'm gonna try one more time today, from the beginning. Another Question......In closed loop configuration should either the AFR or IAC boxes be checked?
I have the AFR Override checked and set to 13.5 min. Take a look at this thread, there's some good info in it. I can't remember on the IAC, I'm at work.

The only thing that should be checked is the closed loop processing for normal operation in both the module and map. Ron
I went back out to the garage and started over from scratch following the8 pg. set up manual step by step. I checked to make sure my throttle was closing all the way, all seems good. I did the initializing then did a 10 sec. run that was rough. Did another 10 sec. run and the idle smooth. So I let it set for a few mins. and started it up to let it run up to 245-285 Head temp. This run seemed to have decent idle but kept fartting out of the AC. I let it run up to about 275 and shut it down to go for a ride, this is where things went bad.
I started the bike again everthing seemed normal, headed up the street. WhenI let go of the throttle to shift gears the RPM went up. I rode for about 5 miles with very irregular idle and LOTS of popping and backfire. I'm calling Pete tomorrow to hopfully get this worked out (come on PeteI need ya buddy). Eventhough the bike ran like **** it was still great to be in the saddle again after 3 months without riding. Thanks to rbabos and Koppster for your replies.
I have my AFR Override enabled and set at 13.5. Worked miracles for me getting rid of decel pops/backfires.
Rick
Yes it will work ok, but having it checked means that all of the AFR vrs TPS maps won't be working. It is set across the board at 13.5, or whatever number you choose. You won't be able to lean at specific rpms if this feature is checked , if you choose to someday. Not saying it's a problem, just saying what it does. Ron
