on mine it seems it HAS to be running..i tried many times w/o the bike running. ignition on ,run switch on,but still said device not communicating.. in desperation i fired it up and then everything worked fine..read 0 at idle and with a millisecond blip to full throttle the graph went red and seemed to reset fine.. in the pc111 instructions it says to watch the lights on the unit after turning ignition on, and if they go out after 5-10 seconds your bike is one that must be running to reset throttle position...in the environmental options it lists different ways to save map on exit...which on should be used? the "always"???

My understanding is that the slow start thing is common for PCIII with '06's.
