Can you guys educate me on coils, I am looking to buy an aftermarket tach for a 2002 softail. Some of the manufactures are saying i will need a tach adapter for single fire coils. Is the coil on this bike considered a single fire coil. The parts book calls it a dual spark coil, so its a bit confusing. Bye the way this is a carb model.
Another question, other than higher revs. would there be any benifit in putting a screamin eagle ignition system on this bike.

look at your coil, if it has 3 wires going into it other than your spark plug wires, it is a single fire. if it only has 2, its a dual fire system. follow the instructions for the correct setup.

Twin Cams have single fire ignition...3 wires to the coil. On a 2002, you should have a pink tach signal wire under the dash. This is where you would pick up the tach signal, not at the coil itself.

Thanks for the info. I did see that wire under the dash and thanks for verifing that, and the tip on the three wire single fire coil.

Does the pink wire under dash hold true for dynas fxdwg3 in particular?
