I have a question. I am not very knowledgeable about about computers on these bikes. I bought an 05 Dyna and it had SE pipes and Stage1 kit. One day I pulled the seat off a noticed it had a Power Commander. 2 other fellows at work have 05 big twins with pipes, one with a Power Commander, one without. The one without has had his bike back to HD of Elkridge a few times trying to get it to run right (poppin & spittin) since they put his V&H pipes on and its still not running right. The other HD of Frederick put on Rineharts with a Power Commander and his runs great as does mine. The question: is the stock computer at fault and need help?
The bike with the PCIII is better tuned and "dialed in," thus runs better. The stock ECM can surely use some "help" when you start changing air cleaner, pipes, etc.
My bike will have a Zippers ECM within a couple days. And no they are not a scam nor junk. Always cracks me up how wedded people become to their particular accessories, and anything else is surely unworthy...
As for my .02, I have the pc III and it has pretty good adjustments for fuel but the options with the zippers is like having the HD scanning tool to make a lot of your standard adjustments from idle speed to IAC stepper motor settings. I do think a lot of the settings are for more educated motorheads than me as the wrong settings can create more problems than fix them, a dyno setting is probably the best of course. From what I have seen of the zipers, I do think it has lots of capability even if you wanted to go with a WEGO II system that would help with daily riding as well the long hauls to different altitudes. I think zippers is just newer to most of us. Daytona twin tec also has an Ecm type of solution that could be just as well put forward. Everyone will have their favorite but we all need to keep an open mind to the newer solutions that are coming out. I think it has a lot to do with how much you want to do and how far you intend to go in the future with your mods.

Got the bike back with the Zippers ECM installed. Seat of the pants result: Very good. Dyno results: Very good. Basically stock 88", I have Samson Rolled Thunder slip ons, stock header pipes, SE air cleaner, and the Zippers ECM.

My torque curve is sweet, starts early and stays strong (i.e. fun to twist the throttle).
