I recently extended my switch wire for different bars. I ran in to a problem that now when I connect the battery the turn signals come one with out turning the ignition switch on. When I do turn the ignition switch on my tail light comes on full blast and dims when I engage the front brake.
Also, my high beam indicator on the console comes on when I connect the battery and when I turn the ignition switch on, it is lit when the lights or on low beam and goes out when I switch it to high beam.
So I redid the wires (took out the extensions) with still the same problem. Is something in my console or switches bad?
I am at a loss right now, I am sure I screwed something up.
Thanks for the response. I have since taken them out of the handlebars and rechecked all the wires. They are all connect correctly. I alsoremoved the console and checked the wires there. With the console on or off the turn signals lights come on as soon as I connect the battery.
What year bike?
Unless you put a spacerin your front brake lever you may have broken the brake light switch upon re-assembly. Many have done, it it is easy to do.The brake lights will stay on if this switch gets broken.
Do you have the brake/turn converter so your turn sigs are brake lights too?
Okay, here we go.. First, thanks to everyone that gave me some pointers. Second, I am an idiot. I found my problem. I was not connecting my battery directly to the bike but was using a âjumperâ if you will. I attached a picture. Apparently this not was not letting enough juice through, and caused my weird problems. On the plus side, I am a master at soldering and pulling wires in and out of the handlebars. Thanks again.
