Default ecm problem

Has anyone had a problem with an ECM acting up? Like not having the voltages stable enough to the injectors as to cause a lean/rich condition at times? I had my bike worked on many times for what was described as an intake leak. The readout on dino was rich then lean then rich etc. They replaced the induction seals and retuned it. I would run fine till it got hot outside, then it would act up on occasions. I was wondering if anyone ever heard of such a thing and is there a way to check it? My warrenty is about to run out after 2 years and I would like to get it fixed before then.

Boy..... just when you think you heard it all someone comes up with a whopper!!! No DG the fuel is controled in the ECM by look up tables, Map loads, and temps.....the fuel spiking lean to richhas nothing to do with a intake leak, my advice to you is let the neighbors 2 year old work on your bike from now on...it will be cheaper. Seriously, don't let that guy touch your injected bike again, if he would simply look at the IAC steps at idle he could see if the intake was leaking.

Doc 1, Thanks for the info. I have suspected that for a long time but, trying to offer a suggestion, without being a know it all, is not my strong suit. Is there a way I can check it myself? Or make it Fail / smoke leak out, so it can be replaced?

Do you have the cables for the SERT so you can hook up the bike to the SERT and computer? If so get the program on Data Mode while the bike is running and look at the IAC steps in the Data Information screen....it should be between 40 stepsand 60 stepsat idle at operating temp depending on the model bike you have. Now if the IAC reading is at 20 or say 25 stepsand lower it's showing air is getting into the motor through another area other than the IAC port. It could be a Map sensor gasket, Injector '0' ring, or manifold seals.

Yes, I have a set of cables. I bought them when I got the sert. I have never used them. The dealer who is working on it now under warrenty installed the sert and map. I'll get back with you when I get more info. Thanks again Dan
