I installed the exhaust and SERT last night using my Mac and got an error about the bootloader. I never could get it resolved so I borrowed my dad's laptop and did the install. All went well and I got the screen that said it loaded successfully. When I tried to start the bike, it sounded like the battery was dead. I put the charger on and let it run and within a few minutes it said the battery was full. Tried it again and it did the exact same thing. You can hear the fuel pump prime up and when you mash the start button, the starter solenoid engages and disengages rapidly. This was at 11:30 last night so I gave up for the night.
This morning, I decided I was going to take the ECM up to the HD shop and see if I screwed it up. Just for S&G I tried to start the bike and low and behold it fired right up. I let it run for a couple of minutes and shut it off. Started it up again, no problems. One of the things I wanted different about my bike was to have the idle speed lower. I made a map with changes only made to lowering the idle speed and uploaded the map. Upload went fine with no issues. Tried to start the bike and it won't start again! It's doing the exact same thing as last night.
I got on the forums and did some reading and I've tried everything from using a different map (install went smooth with no problems) to disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 30 minutes. Nothing helps. I broke down and took the ECM down to the HD shop an hour ago and they said they have to have the bike there to be able to check to make sure the ECU and security and still communicating. Now, I've got to go borrow a truck, empty the tree limbs out of my trailer, load the bike up, and take it back to Harley. Hopefully they can get it done quick and not have it cost me an arm and a leg.
Anyone else have these symptoms after uploading a map? Please help!
After the map download did you shut off the main power switch and wait 10 seconds before turning it back on? Keep in mind it is still a possibility that the starter issue could be a completely seperate issue, I have had things like this happen in the past and it is not out of the question for the problems to be unrelated.
OK, this thread needs to be renamed "SERTs work great. Batteries SUCK!" I just went down to the shop and it turns out the battery was toast. They hooked a good battery up to it and it fired right up. Funny how things happen, huh?
