I have just installed a new EV13 can in my 91 dresser.I previously had installed a EV3. The EV13 seems to work better for my riding style, but I could not get the bike to idle smooth after the cam change with the V.O.E.S. connected.I bypassed it and the bike idles fine. The only problem I seem to have now is a slight preignition as I ease onto the throttle at about 3000 RPM.I have a Compu-Fire ignition, but am not sure how to adjust the curve. The carb is a new Mikuni 42mm.I have a two into one Thunder exaust that is wide open.I could sure use some good advice.I don't want to hurt the motor after all this work.
Many of the Compu-Fire ignitions do not have adjustable or selectable advance curves.
Sounds more like you have a vacumn leak in the VOES or the hose, or possibly the timing is not set correctly.
If you have the VOES connected and it does not idle correctly, then all you do is disconnect the VOES and it starts idling well with out changing the timing, your timing was wrong to begin with - UNLESS of course you have a vacumn leak in the VOES or hose.
