Has anybody used a laptop running Vista as the primary operating system and istalled Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 to also run XP or 2000 to load their SERT program into their bike's ECM?
VmWare Workstation $190, Old PC running XP or 2000 $??? or Microosoft Virtual PC $0.
I am looking for the least expesive way to go on this. I have a license of XP, so loading Virtual PC doesn't cost anything.
If anyone has experence please post.
MS VPC 2007 SP1 does not support USB devices. There are workarounds for USB drives and printer. If the computer has a serial port then MS VPC may work. I can't test it because both of my notebooks do not have a serial port.

Some have had success running the SERT software in Vista. It's hit or miss but worth a try.

Another option is using VMWare.
It's looking as if buying an older laptop with XP or 2000 and a serial port may be the way to go. I've been using a older work laptop with 2000, with usb and usb to serial adaptor, and that works great.
