I've got a bad signal wire on my tach. \\; Pretty sure that's it since, for a couple of days if I turned the handlebars left or right, the tach would start working, then stop when I straightened out. \\; Now the tach just doesn't work regardless of the handlebar position. \\; I'm pretty sure I have a bad wire (pink in the manual), but don't want to have to replace the entire harness BIG job. \\; One thread I read said it was a ten hour job for a dealer, and it would probably take me three times as much.
What's the best way to repair a bad wire in the main wiring harness? \\; Just repull a new wire from the ECM connector to the tach connector and wire tie it to the harness? \\; Not sure I would know how to find a broken wire if the outer insulation isn't damaged, so not sure it's worth taking the wiring harness apart. \\; Maybe I'm wrong, though.
What have the rest of you done about fixing wiring harness problems???
Not aware of any spare wires. \\; That sure would make it easy to check/fix, but if everything had a spare, we'd be riding 1500 lb. bikes!  \\;
