Hey guys, I have a 1998 FLHRCI. I just got it out of the shop for a broken top motormount, and when i went to start it up this afternoon it wouldnt start. I turned the ignition on, the ENG light comes on and goes out, but I didnt hear the fuel system pressurizing. I tried starting it anyway and sure enough it will turn over, but not crank, \\;and then the ENG light comes back on. \\;Im guessing either the fuel pump and/or relay is out, or my ECM bit the dust in the electrical storm we had last night when lightining struck my backyard and fried a telephone and my router (and possibly my bike)..LOL

Well i busted out my handy dandy service manual and turns out its the fuel pump relay....When i briged terminals \\;30 and 87 the fuel pump started pressurizing (with the ignition off). \\;Weird thing is when i pulled it out the relay was warm, when i pulled the wire harness off the power wire terminals \\;were oxidized, like from heat. I wonder if this is whats been draining my battery as well?

as far as draining the battery, do you have an alarm or after market alarm light? they will cause a drain also.

No the only "extra" thing i have is the LED light kit. I think its just the Harley Brand batteries. I usually go through 1 a year, so i've switched back to interstate batteries, i seem to have better luck with them. I put in the new fuel system relay and the bike fired right up. In the process i learned they have updated to the relays due to a similar problem that i was having.
