Okay, just took out the bike after installing Screamin Eagle Air cleaner kit, Rinehart duals and PCIII. I used the map from the PowerCommander.com web site which stated all my components.
Starts great, off idle to mid accelerating is great and no backfire on decel. When I open it up, it pulls then falls on its face. Then backfires on decel. After such an incident it backfires more often on decel.
It is rideable unless you romp on it, and can live with the backfire. But I want it right since it is obviously a lean condition.
The only thing I didn't do was calibrate the TPS. Could that be the culprit? I was going to try that and fattening it up wit the buttons on the outside of the PCIII, since I don't know what the numbers in the software interface represent. Is it percent (0-100)? Or miliseconds the injectors are open? Or ??
Love the sound of the Rineharts though. And there is no Dyno tuneres local to me and would be a last resort since it doesn't even have 1000 miles on it yet.
Bounty is correct. You're probably not getting enough fuel at high RPMs where you need it. Until you can get it dyno's I'd call DynoJet and tell them what it's doing. They should be able to talk you through a fix that will get you running decent until dyno time.
Could the TPS be the culprit? Absolutely. Everything uses that for the base setting. If that is off, so is everything else. If it still falls flat and loses power after that, make adjustments to the A/F mix in the higher rpm ranges. It's probably lean, but it could just as easily be rich.
GenoRKng---i noticed that your bike is an '06--have you checked the injectors to see if you have the 8* or the 25*. the moco has a service bulletin that allows the dealer to change out the injectors on '06 bikes with 8* to the 25* injectors for problems as you describe. take a flashlight and shine on the injectors (just behind and above the horn cover. if the injector has part# 27625-06--it is the old style 8*. if its part# 27709-06a--its the new 25*. if its the old syle--take it back to your dealer and describe the problem--they will order the injectors and install them for you. reference bulletin number-m-1185 issued february 20th-2006
The map you got from the site could have been done anywhere in the country at who knows what altitude. The maps I have gotten off there have been a little lean. I would richen up the top on your p-commander manually and see if that helps, if not try leaning it out and see what happens. These are easy adjustments and will get you by till you find someone to throw it on a dyno and dial it in.
When I bought mine I had several engine upgrades done before I picked it up from the dealer, they downloaded a map that was close but after mine was past the break-in I took it in for a custum map on a dyno. It runs perfect in all ranges. I know you said you don't have a dyno tuner in your area, but if you attend any of the major events there'll be several tuners there that can do it while you wait. Here's a guy that I would recomend and you can check his web-site for his schedualed events, hope theres one that is close to you. http://www.rollingthunderdyno.com/
