Need some advice here guys. I have a 2001 police electroglide that lately doesnt want to start. When I hit the start button nothing happens not even a click. Wait a while and it will turn over no problem. i know it will happen because the engine light that usually goes out after the fuel system pressurizes starts to flash fast and then goes out. Now here is a wierd one. If I hold the starter in and wait sometimes it will just start up like normal. My model you have to have the clutch lever in to start could that switch be the problem? This start problem happens any time cold or hot. Just think its wierd that sometimes if I just wait 40 seconds holding the starter button down it will sometimes turn over. There is no dimming of the lights ect. When I hit the start button its just like its dead. Thanks for any info.
Having a similar problem with my 03 (posted about a week ago, got some helpful advice). I don't have the clutch switch to deal with. First I cleaned battery and ground connections, no change. I bought a new starter relay ($5.42). Still no change. Have roll started, but not confortable with that or possibly getting stuck. Have thrown in the towel, and made an appointment with local dealer service dept. (called the extended warrenty # and it should be covered). I'll know by Wed this week and will post the outcome if you would like.
I don't know if you've fixed it by now but I was afraid something like this would happen so I got one of those chrome buttons that replaces the end cap on the solenoid. I found it on EBAY for some bike parts suppiler. Be careful with it, it doesn't know if your in gear!
