2007 night train pinging
Our 2007 night train starts to ping when I roll into the throttle hard. (about half throttle and up).We have gone through a couple tank fulls of different brands of high test to no avail. Other than this it runs fine. I've read map sensor, crank position sensor, etc. ? Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I thought the stock ecm had ion sensing to stop ping. For this not to work, did you change plug wires, check gaps on plugs and varify map sensor is working? If it was dyno tuned, was the anti knock switched back on at the end of the session? Generally the pinging in your range is caused from too much advance or a bit lean on the fuel. It can also be caused from being in a gear too high for the timing and fuel for the load conditions.

+1 The anti-knock sensing should automatically retard the timing and then add it back when you roll on the throttle to prevent any detonation.
