2006 XLC1200 - I have an intermittent start / power that is getting worse.
Battery cables are tight and clean. I turn on the key and I have power. When I hit start, it will CLICK and then ALL power is lost. I loosen the positive cable and power comes back. I tighten again and it may click and die again or it may start. I have read the forums and found ideas from the battery, cables, connections, starter relay, and something called the switch cover. Any ideas where to start?
I will always here the CLICK before it dies. Once it starts cranking, there doesn't seem to be a shortage of power from the battery and it does start.
I guess what really confuses me is why I lose ALL power.
Bob, any ideas as what might cause a random engine shut down while riding? Dealer and SOAR (whatever the hell that acronim stands for) have no clue and are of no help? I'm on my own with a bike that dies while riding!
