Battery disconnect question

Battery disconnect question
I bought a set of chrome control switches (turn signals, start, etc) and the instructions say to disconnect the battery. I recently put a new horn cover on and those instructions also had me disconnect the battery. Once I was finished I felt disconnecting the battery was a waste of time. Is this just a HD CYA or should I follow the instructions while replacing the switch covers? Thanks for the help and I did try a search before posting this but ran out of patience. Guess I need a xanax.....

This is just to cover HD's a$$ in case the bike accidentally starts.
I wouldn't disconnect the battery, but just make sure your ignition switch stays OFF while you change out those control switches.

Wouldn't hurt to pull the main fuse. That's easy. Good thing to do even when undoing the battery cables too, as it's complete one shot power interupt instead of the on and off light sparky contacts when undoing the terminal bolts. Don't think the ecm likes that much.
