03 Roadglide Electrical Issues
I checked all the fuses and I took the battery out and it is charging all night but I'm at a loss. Any help is appreciated.
I wouldn't be surprised it is all ok tomorrow, after a good charge.
a battery charger is meant to....charge a battery.
which one do you need? a charger.
howvever a battery once discharged will only recharge to about 60% of it's previous capacity
so if a worn battery was already down to 10 amp hours and 150 CCA...maybe now it's down to 6 and 100
when you "charge" a battery- before metering...let it sit for an hour- also briefly connect a load, such as a lghtbulb- this will remove a "surface charge" and give you a true reading of the batteries reserve-
so you can "jump start" the bike --- however a charging system can overload/stress & burn up/fail when you have a duff battery attached to it ----a $100 problem becomes a $600 problem.
get a charger and charge your battery at a charge rate of 6 amps or less overnight- then take the battery to autozone and have it load tested- while it is out inspect you battery cables- are they clean and tight at BOTH ends?
you can easily replace for $25 with cables from the auto parts store if your 2003 cables are corroded
if you need a new battery wscott has written up the best prices for the better batteries- I have used the etx30L, but am now using the yuasa.
using a known good battery...you can test and see if you have done something else, such as put the ignition switch in the wrong way.
which is one of the top 10 rider errors - resulting in a forum post
best practice when working on a bike- and almost every entry in the manual starts with "disconnect battery"
