1800-2400 rpm surging
'05 RKC with SE slip-ons and stage 1. I've had surging and decel popping from day one. Installed a TFI unit and eliminated the popping and some but not all of the surging. Am looking for answers as to how to get the bike right.
SERT?; Terry Components?; or?? Don't want track performance, I just want the thing to run smoothly.
Am near total disgust with the problem and do not want to park the scoot but it isn't fun to ride anymore.

RE: 1800-2400 rpm surging
Just picked up my SG with the new 25 degree injectors. Rough Idle when outside temp is hot (>70) is no longer an issue but I still have a surge at 2000 RPM. I put over 800 miles on it this weekend in Acadia Nation Park. Everytime I am down shifting, coming to stop or slowing down for a corner, and hit 2000 RPM the bike surges. I'm dropping it off again at Harley today. I'll post again when I get some results. Anybody else see similar problems?

RE: 1800-2400 rpm surging
I installed a TFI unit. Went that way because I don't plan any more engine mods than the V&H true duals (installed 2 weeks ago), SE slip-ons, and stage 1. Prior to the TFI the engine surge between 1800 & 2400 was unacceptable. There is a lot of time spent at 2000-24000rpm and riding was a pain. The TFI install is fairly easy and it took a couple of tries to get it right. The phone tech support from Dobeck is very helpful too.
There are several posts in the DIY section dealing with the TFI/DFO install. it may be what you need.

RE: 1800-2400 rpm surging
My bike surged and popped back through the FI module once in a while right from day one. It is an early 06 and had the 8 degree injectors in it. The dealer installed the 25 degree injectors and remapped the ECM. The bike ran the same. After the bike was broke in, I installed SE Pro mufflers and Stage 1 A/C. I bought a SERT and remapped the ECM using the provided race map that matched the mods I made. Now the bike runs flawlessly...no surge at any rpm, no popping back and no decel popping. I checked my mileage and got 40.9 mpg riding double at speeds ranging from 25 to 80. I'm happy, the bike's happy and life is good.
P.S. I read about people on this forum putting this or that on their bikes and trying to tune it using this or that and having nothing but trouble. For the simple mods I wanted, I decided to go all HD and the stuff works great together.
