I'm in the middle of a battle between two dealerships, one says we did the HD download to your 06 Street Glide with SE/Slip-ons and SE/AF, The other says there is no such download. My problem is the bike will fall on it's face during take -off, does'nt happen all the time, but always at the wrong times. I have done some research and informed the dealerships about the fuel injector issues, where i believe the problem might be occuring from. The dealer were I had my download from told me that 06 riders need to be educated on how to throttle up and release their clutch ( went on to talk about the EPA restrictions ). I have a hard time with that reasoning being a mechanic of a different sort. Does anytbody out there really know what going on here ? I'm loosing faith in my first HD purchase. I realize that I'll need a fuel management system, but for now I need answers. Going to desert for 4 months, be back in Nov.

Sounds like a it's time to find a new dealer. I've had my 06 EG 'fart' a couple of times on take off. It happens even before I get a chance to start letting off the clutch. The bike has never died yet but it is a little unnerving.

 

GET a PCIII optimized on a DYNO and be DONE with it, SCREW the dealer! Mine was done last August long before the injector's became an issue. It's all in the tuning, and it sure as hell makes a dramatic difference. My SG just plain kicks ***....due to my TUNER. Yours should too, now go and kick some ***....in the desert.

 

My '06 Road King was coughing through the air filter when cold and had an irregular idle when hot. Once my dealer changed out the 8 degree injectors and replaced with the newer 25 degree ones, all is fine now. The bike runs perfect.

I agree with you. My 06 RG has been doing the same thing....bogs down on take off, but not every time. I't talked to a few people more knowledgeable than me on fuel injection and they say the same thing....get larger injectors. Now the problem is getting my dealer to do it. Unfortunatly they are the only dealer within 80-90 miles and the service manage refuses to even consider the injectors or change them. Going in next week for the 2500 service (prepaid, so might as well get my money worth) and going to raise holy hell with a copy of the service bulletin in my hand. If they still refuse, my next thing will be the 2 page letter of all the problems with this bike to H-D (i.e. stalling, overheating in mid 70-80 degree weather when at 2 minute stop light, front cylinder smoking on occasion, etc) and a complaint to the better business folks. It's pretty bad when I got better performance out of a 2001 FXD and 2003 FXDL than this bike. The potential is there, but only on certain occasions when it's not bogging down.
