I just found out there are two injector types for 06 motors. 8 degree and a 25 degree. Which do you have? I have a 8 and I'm having a problem when I down shift. It's like a backfire in the intake. I went to Zippers because I have a ThunderMax and thought it was the problem. But they showed me that I have a 8 degree injector which is the problem. The fuel doesn't move fast enough into the intake or something like that and puddles up.Harley won't change it unless you complain A LOT!! If you look up under the tank at the injector you will see a number on it. If it ends in -06 it's a 8. If it ends in -06A it's a 25. Mine is going to the dealer at the end of the month for the voltage regulartor recall and I'm going to get them to change mine out under warrenty, I hope. I'm going to fight the fight and see where I get. Who else have had this problem and what did you do???
25 degree! Tell the dealer that your bike stalled in an intersection. That'll put a safety spin on it, and due to liability, they'll change 'em out for you.
I fought the stall and farting for a year before they got approval for the injector change. It will require a new download (or readjust to your sert if you have one. Haven't noticed that big an improvement in anything. It did dyno well and except for getting rid of the camchain tensioners I'm done moding the bike. It's great.
I called a local dealer and told them it had the 8 injectors and the bike ran rough and sometimes stalled until thoroughly warmed up.Theygave the"drop off the bike and we'll check it out because it could be a lot of things" speech. I even went there with the tech bulletin in hand - same song and dance.
Called another dealer 30 miles away and they made an appointment for the injector swap and did the fix (new injectors and download) while I waited.
The only thing to be checked. Per service bulletin is fuel pump pressure. Had my injectors changed out last year at 1000 mile checkup. Made a little difference in the seat of the pants feel. But still was not totally happy. Added a dyno 111 and richened up the 2000 rpm range. HD runs way to lean around that rpm. Dropped almost 20 degrees off my oil temp per the dipstick. No more farting or stumbling.
