Injectors
I know this subject has been beat to death but I had to have my say. I started noticing things about the 06 SG that did not seem right. A little cough when starting, not running as well as she did when new, rough running engine. I went to the dealer and they said they checked it out and could not find anything amiss. It continued, I went back and asked them to look again. I "suggested" that maybe the injectors were bad. The boss in the shop said "I don't think that applies to SG's, only Softails." Hmm, I thought I remembered reading the bulletin which said any motorcycle with the 1450cc big twin. I am not the sharpest crayon in the box but wouldn't that include a Street Glide? Anyway, he called me later that evening and told me it was ready to be picked up. He said "we replaced the injectors". I don't know if that means they were bad or they just wanted to get me off of them. Now, it seems to run better and seems more peppy but the idle seems low. Yesterday it was about 700rpms at a traffic light. Today I was going to take it in and it was about 900-1000 rpms. Thinking it had something to do with being cool outside, I drove around for a half hour. It did not change, 900-1000 rpms. So, I guess it's ok. I sure hope so. Going for a trip this weekend.............................

You are a sharp crayon, and apparently a sharper one then your service dealer.
All big twins (everything air cooled, less the sporties) are part of the bulletin. What it was regarding was if your bike was manufactured before 2/06, then you had 8° injectors. These injectors had a small amount of holes, like 3 or 4 I believe. The spray pattern was very small and the fuel did not atomize enough. Caused the bike to run rough, cough and sputter when cold. The fix was the MoCo would put 25° injectors in your ride. This injector has about 10 holes and the spray pattern was wider at 25°. The fuel was atomized better and bike will run stronger. These were the injectors that the MoCo put in the SE bikes originally. All bike produced after 2/06 had them installed as OEM.
Hope this helps you understand the issue better.
Now go get a Powercommander, get it Dynoed and you are good to go. (From Bigredone)

Get the service bulletin and check the numbers on the injectors to make sure they actually changed them. My dealer lied and told me they changed them, only to find out all they did was put in some crappy download.[:@] Needless to say, another dealer actually DID the work and dealer #1 is history.
