Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
Well just finished installing the thundermax auto tune. Everything seemed to go fine except for a couple of things. Towards the end of the iac sync the engine light came on in my gauge cluster. Not sure why. I also got a message about my o2 sensors. Found that strange so I checked the closed loop settings and both boxes were checked. So I went and checked my diagnostics. I read around that I will get I will get errors in regards the ego when the bike is not running but when I fire it up I should be able to clear the diagnostics and be all set. Well I cleared mine while the bike was running and they are still counting up in 1 second increments. Any idea of what's up? Am I safe?
Well, I noticed a lil smoke coming out from where the rear o2 sensor is and the exhaust was popping. Thinking the rear o2 sensor is loose. Gonna tighten that tomorrow and load the latest firmware version (I saw there is a new one available). Will I need to reload/retune after I do the firmware or will that not affect it.
In the diagnostic of the software the o2 faults are a glitch in the system. They will always do the count, even when good. To check o2 sensors you need to open the front and rear afr gauges in the window. In the monitoring menu click on setup and make sure the afr gauges are checked. Click on each gauge and check visible in monitor view. When gauges are activated , from the software menu in monitoring select show gauges. turn the key on, but don't start engine, it will end up with a 19.36 reading for both afrs. This is the correct o2 reading when they are good. When you do the firmware update you should write the map back and initialize when done. At this stage I would just do another auto iac from a cold engine) and then ride even though you could write the offest to the existing map and save it before rewriting it. Your call on this depending on your skills. I know the manual is a pain to read, so I forgive you this time. By the way, did you plug your data port in, as without it, it will not recognize the o2 sensors and run in open loop.

Thanks for the reply man. I'm gonna tighten up the rear o2 sensor tomorrow and check out that reading of 19.36 that mentioned. Once I get that all squared away I'm gonna load the new firmware. After that I think I'm just gonna reload the base map and do a retune. the short time it will take me will be worth it for the peace of mind that I'll have. Nothing worse than riding around an $18k bike and worrying if it's you're gonna grenade the engine :-P
