Ok, I have a 08 Fat Boy with SE stage 1 intake, Hooker Troublemkers, and a Thundermax auto-tune. Everything is running great, but I have some decel pop that hasn't corrected. I've read online that I can turn on the decel pop feature (1 = on 0 = off). Right now mine is currently off. If I were to turn it on, what steps would I take...such as connect a laptop to the Thundermax...do I "link" straight away or follow other steps. Also, upon completion of the change do I have to do anything special?
Hook it up and turn the key on once the program is open on the computer. In the smartlink program use the file menu dropdown and choose Read module maps and settings. When it's finished reading, go into Module configuration at the left selections and choose Basic settings. Make the change for the decel function, and at the bottom, middle of the page choose Write module settings and close the module page.
You can now click on the green link button at the top to unlink and close the program. It will ask you if you want to save the changes. Choose yes and you are done. You can unhook the cable from the bike.
The only other thing you should do is reinitialize the module. 3 times on and off for 30 seconds each. No run to temp needed.
Depending on what rpms the popping occurs, you may have to go back in and set the rpm ranges that it pops in, but it's always the same proceedure for in and out, unless you only live edit timing and afrs, in which case no reinitialize is required. Only when you monkey with module settings.

Well, I turned on the decel-pop feature. A lot of it went away, but I still have some. Now, even sometimes when I go to blip the throttle on a downshift it will give a pop (it didn't do that before) Is the map I'm running too rich? It's map #544 which says AFR & timing is altered for heavy payload. Perhaps too much fuel? My setup is:

Thanks!
544 is stupid rich. As for the popping it may require deviating from the default rpms for fuel cut. Blip popping might be cured with changing the fuel accel setting in basic settings. Probably leaner or less fuel.

So, would you recommend going with a different base map first? I've been noticing that my fuel economy is pretty bad. I got 100 miles on my tank before my fuel light came on. What you think about map #524?
I think I would try 524 instead. What was the reason for going to 544 for heavy? Whatever map works for you, the cruise afrs need to be in a range of 13.8-14.2 for good fuel economy. Almost always needs to be edited by the user to get the best results. A timing edit of 1-3 degrees will likely be needed to eliminate roll on ping within this afr range as well.

Thanks man, I appreciate the advice. No real reason why I went with map 544. I was going by the manual for my first time install and it said to use the most recent map. Well, at least I know better. This weekend I'll give map 524 a try and take it from there and see if I can get it sorted out.

I think you will like it better. Ride it for a while and see what, if anything needs improvement.
