Default re-setting rev limiter

I have a stage 1 07 roadking with an s/e tuner, air cleaner and pipes. It has been dyno tuned and i have good numbers @74.27 H.P./87.03 TQ. I am being told that the moco will allow the rev limiter to be raised. Is this true? I believe the limiter kicks in around 5600 if im not mistaken. How much higher do they allow it to be set at ? can this be done without a dyno run ? i have the tuner but never got software or a cord. how is the change accomplished ?

You will need software and cables. Just open the map and go to tuning set up. Raise your limit, save the file and reflash the map to the ecm.

They should be able to do it in 5 minutes. Mine is set to 6350, but I'm running different springs.

As long as the dealership/ tuning center retained the tuned MAP that is in your bike. If I were you, i'd look at your dyno sheet, look where the power and torque start to fall off, if it's not making power after 6000 RPM or so, why raise it higher? I have some of my bigger builds limiting out at 6500 but that's about as high as I am comfortable going.

thanx for all the help guys. i went in for an inspection sticker and told them what i was thinking and what you guys had mentioned. he said they'd be happy to throw it on the computer and take a look. i have a canned map but he said they had not raised the rev limit so he moved it up.

harley tuner you are exactly correct the curve is definately falling off at 6000. i only run up on it a couple times a year when i go to upstate new york and we run pretty hard. when im two up i seemed to hit it..not sure if that matters. tried it today and found myself wanting out right before 6000 anyway..just going by ear..so i think the slight change will prevent me from running up on the limiter ever again. im usually shifting at 5000 or less anyway. thanx again for the advice guys ...ride safe.
