I called one shop today that did some tuning on my bike to ask if they did anything to the timing on my bike. Guy asked the tech & he said they never really do anything to the timing. I already knew that from looking at the map before & after. It was my understanding that it the timing is never touched, you're really not getting the full tune & only half of it. After I told him they done some tuning on my bike, I told him they didn't do anything to the timing & I guess that's why my gas mileage is sucking & I lost a little on the low end. Also told him that I felt like I only got half a tune & timing is the other half. He didn't know what to say when I told him I'd never be back & I'd make sure to spread the word about their work. Why is it sooo hard to find a good tuner that knows what the hell they are doing? Only really motor work I've done was put in the HQ500 cams & my torque never really changed on the lower end from 2000-3800rpm. From everything I've been told & read, this cam should really be a kicker on the lower end.

Some times it depends on motor build you wont pull or add timing to the lower rpm range more towards wide open throttle. Again it all depends. On the HD they have a knock system that adjust timing to a point. If you have a dyno jet with auto link you can see this also with the tts or sert. A good tuner will know what to look for on a dyno graph. I tryed to write so you would understand with out getting long winded...... post your dyno sheet with afr you will get a lot info from people here.
Again post your sheet or e-mail me I will go over it.... and let you know..........
These first two graphs were before I put in the cams. The next graph shows after the cams. The last graph was after I took it to another tuning center. I just don't understand how I lost some on the lower end.

Are you running those V&H big raduis pipes? Put a set 2 into 1 and you will pick up some of your low end again. The afr is about 13.1 13.5 at wide open throttle. I wonder did he just set it for that or did he try other afr ranges to make more power. Those cams act like a there are lazy cams at low end. Look at your ABDC its more then 30" that tells me they are more of a mid range type cam. You can see it it in your gragh. They act like a set of SE.203/204 more hp than tq. I think your tq increase should have been at least 6 more than 4.
Try calling HQ and ask them what they think. Also take it back to the tuning center that did the first one see what they can do for you.
Those Big Raduis pipes dont do nothing for your bike. My 2 cents and what I have seen tuning they are more for looks and sound.
What year is the bike and what have you've done to it motor wise?
The bike is an 07 Dyna Street Bob. I know the pipes aren't the best in the world for performance but I like them. As far as motor work goes, that's all I really have is the A/C, Cams & exhaust & switched out my tranny pulley to a Andrews 30t pulley. I'm sure he didn't try different A/F ratios. The last Dyno it was on was hooked up on had the tuning link.
