I am posibly buying a 2002 FLHTPI with the factory installed Screaming Eagle performance package.I want to know what is included with that package.I could ask the owner of the bike but I want to ask here first and compare answers with his description.
I appreciate all replies.
Thanks,
Cleve
Well, there are dozens of SE "performance packages," but the one most common is the "Stage I" which is basically a high flow air cleaner, slip-on mufflers, and a factory download to change the ECM afr and timing settings. Or, it may simply be a high flow air cleaner.
Best to ask the seller and have him show you receipts and service records.
I will ask the seller of this FLHTPI and see if he can give me more info.I am not too familiar with police bikes. Is there a web site on the internet where I can do more research on what HD installs on their stock police bikes?
Thanks for the info.It almost seems if that the seller is trying to make it sound like the FLHTPI is something better than what it is.I know that the seat and tires have been changed out, actually the whole bike has been done over except the motor which is fine by me.
If you use the "search" function you can find a lot of information comparing the police Electra Glide to the civilian EG. Shovelhead Bob hit the important points.
You didn't ask, but I'd insist on seeing the service records and receipts.
Also, I'd pay, if need be, to have the engine's cold cranking pressure for each cylinder tested, and a compression leakdown test done to gauge the engine's health.
Last point, if the cam chain tensioners haven't been replaced on this '02 bike, there's a very good likelihood that they will need replacement soon which can be a DIY project, but will cost about $600 or so at a dealership.
I've had my '04 FLHTPI since Feb. '05 and it's been a great bike for me.
