you ask if you can change the throttle positioning sensor, the answer is yes.
The sensor is right behind you air breather on the left side, this part is slotted so when you take it off be sure you get it in the same spot, also the screws heads are filled with an epoxy ( I assume they do this so people just don't start adjusting things) so you will need a small set of vice grips to remove the screws (this description in actually in the manual).
The part is $39 and comes with new screws.
I put mine on and it started right up and ran perfectly.
good luck

I was able to clean the throttle body with carb cleaner really good where the sensor is and haven't had the problem again so hopefully it doesn't come back. Thanks for the response.

Just an added question on this topic as mine is doing the same thing. It only seems to do it after it's warmed up. It seems the longer I ride it, the worse it gets.

Could that be a symptom of the Throttle Position Sensor being bad too?

Try cleaning the throtle body where the shaft with the baffles go into the sensor, mine has been working fine after I cleaned it. I've put probably another 1000mi since no problem.

I went ahead and tried that. I took it out afterwards and put about 25 miles on it and it ran great. I rode to work the next day and about 20 miles later on the way home, it started doing it again.

So unless the TPS is actually bad, a gummed up throttle body/TPS/Air cleaner isn't the issue.

But thank you for taking the time to throw that idea out there.

Newest update:

Last night I put in a new Throttle Position Sensor. It ran fine for the 15 miles to work, but until I've burned up this 3/4 tank of gas and it hasn't done it, I won't consider it fixed. I think it's just trying to lure me into a false sense of security.

If this doesn't fix it, the next part I go after is the MAP sensor...according to the dealer, that is a fairly common replaced item after 50k.

Isn't that frustrating when the problems don't do away!!!
I've put about 600m. on mine and hasn't come back.

The TPS is one of the root causes of these old FI systems. Make sure you have it dialed in to .275 volts. Simply lining it up where the old one was isn't going to cut it.
