Started to take a ride this evening but found all the instruments were dead. Checked the fuses and found the instrument fuse (15 amp) blown. I replace it and as soon as I turned on the ignition switch the new fuse also blew. Have not washed for several days or been in the rain. I will take her to the dealer Monday but wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem.
My 2004 electra glide classic started this problem lat night 24 May 2010>>

Same problem here. Add ons are cruise control, hogtunes with tourpak speakers, and air temp swap for oil temp gauge. No apparent wire rubs but havent removed the tank yet. Have I missed anything obvious yet?
there are a few commony shorted spots behind your front fairing. 95% chance that a short there is causing the problem.
-disconnect your battery
-remove windshield
-remove hidden black bolts under triple tree
-remove all obvious screws/bolts holding on to the fairing
-follow the wires from EACH gauge with your fingers, so that no "nicks' go undetected
-check where the gauges meet the main harness
-check UNDER the loom where the main harness goes to the tank
-check for corrosion on and under fuzeboxes
-check the surface of the ground cables located under the seat , bolted to the frame
-sand off corrosion off of fuses
