I have a 2010 Road Glide Custom completely stock except for a screamin eagle slip on night stick. Bike seems to run fine with stock air cleaner. If I replace the stock air fliter with a K&N replacement air filter will it require some kind of download? I'm not talking SE or Big sucker, just a stock replacement filter.
The K&N will flow more air than stock but it may not be enough to upset your bike. You won't damage anything, it may not run as well at WOT or idle. You may get a little surge. You can always put the stock filter back on and think about a tuner.
Think about why you want to replace the filter. If its for performance, then you will need a tuner to get the most out of it. Otherwise you are probably hurting performance. The stock filter will remove more dirt than any of the free flow filters.
