SERT PC Cable help...
On the new version "E" is the SERT cable still a serial data type, can it be adapted to usb and work ok?
My SERT will be here in a couple of days and my new laptop has no serial ports, only firewire,1394,and
usb...

G version is the same.
Buy a USB to serial adaptor, install the driver, go to device manager and make note of the com port assignment.
Setup SERT with discovered comm port assignment, plug SERT cable into Deutsch connector, turn switch to run, turn ignition on. All set.

What driver did you load to get the SERT to recognize the USB as a Comm Port. I've used the SERT (sucessfully) off my desk Top computer, which has a serial port. But I would like to use my Lap Top with the Data Mode program to tune it in. I bought the USB/Serial Adapter hoping the program would recognize the USB/comm port but no such luck. The Laptop is a Dell Inspiron 9300 with USB only, if this helps.
