Default Installing SERT myself but.....

The SERT didn't come with the cable to program it.

I just spent 2 hrs reading as much as I could on programing the tuner in the do it your self section.

I have a very good idea of how to now but don't have the cable to connect my pc to the tuner.

Do I have to have the SERT one or can I buya serial cablefrom best buy for example?

I would say that provided you have the correct cable it will do the job.The brand ( SERT or any other) should'nt make any difference.

Any serial cable will work but the main issue with the SERT is to make sure you have a good serial to USB adapter such as the Belkin. I purchased my adapter from Staples Office Supply only after tryin an el cheapo from Best Buy first and it would dowload 25 % and then throw up the "bootloader" error meaning the USB adapter could not process the amount of information that was being transmitted from the computer to the ECM. I hooked up the Belkin and hit download and it was no time till it was done dowloading and off I went.
Of course the easiest way to do this is to just connect directly to a Serial port on a computer and avoid the adapter all together.

Do a search as there are several hundred posts about iinstalling the SERT and errors that people ran into. Just make sure you have the ignition key turned on and the kill witch on as well or you wont even get past step one.

Here is the link for the adapter I used as several others have too.

Goodluck.
