Its winter in Iowa where it's to cold to ride, so ya personalize your ride. I'm in the proccess of cams, big bore, etc and am pondering upgrading to a ThunderMax EFI module. I am looking for feedback from folks with experience with this system, i.e. installation, performance gains, problems on the road, etc. I don't mind spending the $850.00 as long as the systems lives up to it's hype.
Its going to get as much performance gains as just about any other with a tune, they've been around for a long time. You will find many satisfied and a few that pulled them off in disgust. You could probably get the same or better satisfaction in the ride with less money, something like a TTS kit.
Got no complaints about mine.. Well worth the cost. It's about a 5 beer installation to get everything routed correctly and zipped down. You can find them new for about $709 on e-bay..
Welcome to the forum. I've been very happy with my TMax. BTW, got mine from a member here, shooter64, and was less than $700. Whatever you get, it always helps to be able to have people who can provide assistance, whether it be here or an indy, etc.
After spending the time and money on three different exhaust systems and a gen1 SERT and still not happy with the sound and performace of the TC 96, I bought the TMax from Fuel Moto (nice people and price). I finally ended up with a set of D&D Fat Cat 2 into 1 with quiet baffles. The Tmax was the nicest to tweak and play with at the time. Never a problem and lots of folks that could help tweak it where the documentation was a little weak. Even though I bought it from FM, they were an 'authorized' dealer and the folks at Zippers had no problems answering my questions.
The reason I brought the exhaust into the story is, if you get the Tmax, the O2 sensors are about an inch and a half longer than the stock H-D sensors. If your 02 bungs are not in the right location (usually the rear header) you might have an obstruction problem with the longer Tmax rear sensor - something to watch for.
Overall, not a bad purchase for my '07 Electra Gide Classic.
Have had the tmax on for the last four years and love it. Have not had any trouble with mine. Install was not bad at all. And you can just plug and play or tinker with it if you like tweeking things.
