Engine Tempature Control System
I just installed a new Vance & Hine exhaust. Hooked up a Power Commander
V and Auto-tune. All runs good except....
Cruise Control
The Cruise control shuts itself off every thirty minutes or so. I have to switch motor off using run switch and start back up than all is ok agian. When I lose cruise I also lose the "6" gear light... it also returns after restart.
I went to Harly.... they did help.... kind of. He told me Power Commander has an issue with the Engine Tempature Control System. He showed me how to turn it on and off. Turning it off makes the cruise system last 30 minutes before it shuts off. With the Engine Temp Control Sytem is on the bike loses cruise every ten minutes or less.
So no good fix. I have not been able to call power commander yet.... but was looking for any insight.
Does anyone know of a fix? Can I remove the temp control system totally and keep cruise.
Can anyone verify that this is the situation... Harley is correct?

Very frustrating since I dropped $600 for the PCV system... and I heavly rely on the cruise. I go on long two to three day trips all the time.

Do you have the Engine Tempature Control System? I was told that only bikes with this new system are affected.
I should note that I have a 2010 FLTRX Road Glide
I wish I only had cruise and no Engine Tempature Control System .... especially since I never use this option and now it is creating havac

FYI -- Engine Tempature Control System is where you roll the throttle foreward and it cuts the rear cyl off. You can disable it electronically.... but no help. Need to disconnect it or remove it .... (I think?)
Hopefully PowerCommander can help.... Really worried. Maybe I can get it removed? Who knows?

If you unhook the PC does the bike still loose cruise? Also I don't understand how ETCS will affect the 6th gear light, sounds like a bad speed sensor? What codes did the dealer get from your bike or was it just the mech's educated guess?

Going to unhook today and do some testing. Another Harley Dealer stated that the ETCS system has nothing to do with cruise or effect the cruise. They think (over the phone) that it is just a bad cruise modual or something. Will know more today hopefully.
Powercommander also stated to unhook and test. They said they have not heard this complaint. (at least customer service had not, tech dyno guys?) But they did say if needed they were there for me. Positive note.
