I have a 2005 Softail Standard FXSTI, I just rode it to Sturgis and back 2400 miles with no problems...yesterday i changed the oil and replace plugs, go for a ride and fill up with gas as I go for a ride about 20 miles out and back. Runs fine until I start to head back. Starts to miss fire and flutter at low rpm. Had to keep rpms up to keep it running. Thought it was gas related so I drained about 2 1/2 gallons out and replace with Shell Vpower. Same problem...will hardly start now. Changed plugs and plug wires...nothing seems to help....any help would be great. I can take it in but afraid of getting screwed over at the dealer.

Going to take a WAG (wild **** guess) but it is in your fuel delivery system. Either a split or crimped hose in your tank or a fuel pump not keeping the pressure up or dirty fuel filter. Check your fuel pressure and work backwards from there.

I agree with Mr Wizard. Did you drain the fuel from the bottom of the tank or siphon from the top? If it was from the bottom did you find water or trash? If you siphoned from the top, I would suggest you drain a quart or so into a clear jar from the bottom. If you found trash or water my bet would be the fuel filter(s). The fuel pressure test will indicate this but check the lines and filter before jumping to the conclusion your pump is bad. If your engine is fuel injected there is a filter in the tank along with the pump. Hope this helps and good luck!
