starting problem
Hey im new to harley i just got a 2008 sportster 1200 nightster and have deided to get rid of the sport bikes and get a harley well i just got it bought it used and runs great but i was out on it last night and got to a buddys house and went to start it and it just clicked 1 time and lost fire to everything so i turned the switch off and turned it back on and same thing well i got it home and decided to work on it and try to fix it now im getting fire in the acc position but not in the run position so i made a jumper wire from the run wire to the battery and it light everything up fuel pump primes and all but still just clicks any help would be appreciated thanks

Put your battery on a load tester.Sometimes it will Show adequate voltage but when you go to start bike there is a drastic voltage drop. Also, check your sensors.I would start with the crank pos. sensor.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago. A starter relay was the suggestion of someone on the web. He told me to pull the relays and check how they look. I did that, they looked OK, so I just charged the battery and cleaned the cable ends to see what would happen.
It started OK a couple of times, then the problem reappeared. I pulled the battery and had it checked. The battery was bad, I got a new one and the problem seems to be solved.
