Default Continuity Testing Question

I was preping to run a 12v lead into my fairing for several future accessories. I want to hook up power for my iTouch, GPS, and some day a new Amp, so thats why I figured I would run a whole new lead up there while I have the bike apart.

My question is:
I have the battery out of the bike and I ran a continuity check from the B+ Connector to the Battery Positive Cable. When I do this I get a good continuity reading as expected.
I then checked continuity from the B+ connector to the Battery Negative Cable and got a low continuity check, not expected?
I then ran a continuity check from the Positive Battery Cable to the Negative Battery Cable and got the same low continuity check, still not expected?

The bike runs fine, all electrical functions work with no problems. Is there a completed circuit some where in the elctrical system that gives a small continuity result? Is my tester completing a circuit through the electrical system? Should I just skip the B+ Connector and go straight from the battery with a fused positive wire and negative wire up to the fairing?

Thanks for any help, still a newbie on 12v electrical testing.

It would be normal to see that across the two battery terminals with the battery removed. When the ignition key is OFF, there are still several "keep Alive" circuits drawing a small amount of power. The ECM has a small constant battery drain, the alarm, & speedo time keeping are all examples of small electrical drains (or loads) on the battery when off. You were just reading the "load" these impose on the electrical system.
