Ignition/Tuner/ECM/Fuel InjectionNeed advice on ignition issues? Questions about a tuner? Have questions about a EFI calibration or Fuel Injection? Tips on Engine Diagnostics, how to get codes, and what they mean. Find your answers here.
I have an 07 RKC Completely stock, even the MAP. It just bugs me that it's tuned so lean from the factory and what bugs me worse is it has stumbled a few times. I am due to recieve a set of Wild Pig slip ons any day and I'm going to install a K&N filter and maybe bore a hole in the back of the breather. Out side of the mufflers and filter I have no intentions to ever modify the engine any further.
Now the age old question. Without overkill what would be suitable to fatten the mixture up and get it running decent and cooler? DFO/TFI, FuelPak, PCIII, SERT, ?????
I'm not looking to shave 10ths of a second off an E.T. and I prefer to do it without dyno runs. I just want it to run better with no stumbling, popping, etc. I'm leaning towards a DFO. Any opinions?
Also I'd rather not leave any evidence behind to void any warranty. Meaning if any problems arise I'll swap the pipes back to stock and remove the mods. I already have a laptop but doesn't a SERT leave "digital" evidence in the ECM? What to use?
Thanks Gentlemen
I don't know what the PCIII costs cause I have a DFO(probably the cheapest) but it cured my popping, hicupping, farting etc. Simple to put on simple to take off and no evidence anything was there. Now I am going to have to fine tune mine a little more since I put Fullsac true dual pipe on. What a sound.
i have a 05 rk w/ecm with wild pigs and a se ac. i got the sert and tweaked the se canned map with a o2 sensor and the dayton 88+, worked very well for me. but, if you really don't want to play with it alot, or learn a new langauge, and you are looking for a cheap quick fix with no trace, the pciii or dfo or any other of a hundred add on ecm modifers will work fine. the sert would leave a trace if its been modified, but as been discussed on here before it is not "suppose" to void the warrenty(depending on dealer?), so it doesn't matter? and frankly, if the dealer told me it would void the warrenty, i would find a new dealer!
also, for the money, i would just get th se a/c, rather than drill holes in the breather? im sure that will leave evidence?
2007 have closed loop with adaptive fuel trims. If you install a dfo, PC etc, the o2's will still trim to factory air fuel. However, if you add just a little fuel across the entire range, it will bring the trims closer to center which will be a good thing. If you use an EFi tuner, you have the ability to actually change the target AF value in closed loop (way cool done in Bias Tables), as well as richen up your cold starts. The EFI Tuner is the superior product for 2007 at this time!

I agree. Tried the PCIII on my 2007 and switched to the SERT after doing a ton of research. SERT works great and has more adjustability than the PCIII. PCIII WILL NOT allow you to change redline limits, EITMS, knock control, etc.
Didn't the PC-III for 2007 models, and the associated 2007 maps, just come out in the last week or 2? Has anyone tried the 2007 PC-III?
It looks like it eliminates the OEM O2 sensors
07 Streetglide, PCIII with stock map here too. Yes, it comes with 02 eliminators, super easy to install. Runs great, I noticed a big performance increase.
