Thanks One_Screamin_Eagle, sorry for not posting the results...Unplugged the speed sensor with no change. Found the diagnostic feature on the radio, got codes but no way to decode them. RS radio said they did not understand the results. Still at square one. looking into spending the 500.00 to switch over to a sony radio with the adapter harness. Hawg wired seems to have the best deal. 200.00 for the adapter and the brackets. Not bad when you start to calculate sending the radio to the manufacture, thier repair charges with no quaruntees, and shipping back. The upgrade will tell me if the radio is bad, if the upgrade works the radio is bad, if the upgrade doesn't work the radio may be good. Plus I can have the better radio. Some issues I am still researching: will I need amplifiers and speakers with the new radio? Anyway on the way thanks for the help, keep them coming.
cclevel, I promise, if you go through all the connections as I did, cleaning and scraping the connections, you will improve several connections on the bike and the radio signals will come in stronger, still may have the whine but the stereo signal won't fade. (bad joke but try to laugh!)
I reread all of this - just out of curiosity - were you using a high amperage charger with the radio on? Also, is this set up for CB? If so, make sure you aren't in CB mode. Last, your radio has an aux input on the face if it is the factory radio. It's under the rubber boot - takes a little stereo jack.
