As you guys know I have been trying to decide on a PCIII or a SERT due to the lean condition of my motor. I called a local dealer today that I trust and the guy said the since the bike is fuel injected it absolutely should not pop or backfire. He asked me to bring it in and let them check injectors and so forth.
FINALLY someone at a dealer tells me it's not "Just part of having a Harley".
Anyway I read on the forums and got part numbers for the fuel injectors that were recalled and wouldn't you know it, the injectors on my 06 Fatboy are part #27625-06 a.ka. 8 degree injectors which were recalled in 2006. Anyway, I'm taking it in tomorrow and we will see what happens.
Nice to get an honest answer, huh? It's all that warranty crapo that makes em lie IMO. I have an 02, so apparantly there was no recall on those injectors. I have a few rare pops still, but not like it used to be. We'll see what happens when I add a pc 3 or whatever I choose to add.
yeah, if this doesn't do the trick then the PCIII will be coming shortly. I still have a little uncertainty about whether to get the PCIII or the SERT, but I'll see after tomorrow. It will probably be the weekend before I get the bike back.
Okay not a recall, but there is a service bulletin out reccomending replacement of 8 degree injectors with 25 degree injectors on 06 bikes where it is determined the injectors to be the cause of "cold starts or drivability issues".
It will probably be the weekend before I get the bike back.
The injector swap only took about 1 hour on my SG and that included the road test by the mechanic after the work was performed and yes I did check the part number on the injectors when I got home to make sure they actually changed them.......................BG
