New battery question

Default New battery question
I purchased a new battery from PEP Boys yesterday as mine would no longer hold a charge. When I purchased they filled with acid and gave it a quick charge and said it should be ready to go.

I did not need the bike yesterday afternoon so I put it on a trickle charge at 2 amps. This morning the acid was boiling out of two of the seemingly tight screw in plugs.

Is this normal or do I have a problem. Overfill? overcharge?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I would question the accuracy of your charger. 2 amps should never cause a boil over. I charge a new battery with my battery tender which auto shuts off when peak charge is reached.

thank KBFXDLI it was at 2amp but I selected "deep cycle" maybe that was the wrong setting...

Uh, yeah...that could be it. Now you can use that battery in your boat.
