electrical problem-need help
Have an 08 Cross Bones. Bike started jerking when put in 5th gear. I just skipped it for a while, then took to a good mechanic (not Harley). Bike was popping a code, 15 out of the 20 options mention the throttle position sensor, but not sure if that will cause the problem. Put different ECM in bike, problem still there. Drove it, but then just skipped 5th. Months later, on highway, bike started doing it in 6th, but jerked very badly, and speedometer pegged and then went to 0, even though bike still runs, and then once downshifted back to 4th, speedometer starts to work again. Computer shows that it is dropping fuel. All signs point to electrical, as the trans and clutch basket have been checked, and are perfect. Harley dealer service shops will not just do a straight electrical diagnostic on it. Everyone who gets on it thinks that it is a gear problem, or mechanical, so they want to take it apart to check. Seeing as how that has been done, and everything is good, I need an electrical guru, someone who has heard of this problem, or can give me some direction on where to start.
