The reason that happens with a bad speed sensor is that the IAC tends to open a little more than it would be at idle when the throttle is open and the bike is in motion. This prevents a stall due to a fast throttle closing event with the bike in motion. When the speed sensor is not sending the proper speed signal, the IAC can be too far closed on a stopping event and the idle will drop or the engine will stall.
Throwing parts like a TP at it is a waste of money and I always cringe when people are telling people to just try this because it's only xxx dollars. The more parts you touch without proper diagnosis, the higher percentage you can actually induce another problem.
Always systematically diagnose and repair. The parts shotgun is a bad thing.
