I'm a new owner of a 2007 Ultra Glide Classic. I'm reading through the owners manual and I notice a statement that says it requires 91 octane.(DARN!) Is that a written in stone requirement? Just wondering because the 85 Glide I once had could take anything. Will it cause major damage with anything less or just run poorly and not get as good mileage? It has been worked enough so that "breaths" better. Don't know if it's had any electrical enhancements. I haven't even put on enough miles to need a fill-up yet so I'm glad I spotted that in the manual to be able to ask.
Well there are guys who run regular and they "think" it's running great. However pre-ignition it not always audible and if you know anything about pre-ignition it's the fuel igniting while the piston is still on the upstroke and could cause major engine damage such as a bent or scissored crank.
They write the manuals and recommend certain things for a reason.
Use whatever you like however if it says use premium I would use premium.
