04 fuel tank onto 07 Heritage - wiring problem
I got a paint set from a 2004 Heritage that I am putting on my 2007. The guts from the 07 fuel tank wouldn't work in the 04 tank, as there was no place to mount the fuel gauge sender unit. So I bought the fuel pump/sender assembly from a 2004 Heritage. Ready to slap it in, when I discovered that the plug receptacle on the 2004 top plate is more oval-shaped and has only 3 pins; and the plug on the 07 wiring harness that connects to it is more flat and has 4 pins/wires.
I've got the parts coming for the 04 wiring harness plug, but the problem remains of how to connect the 4 wires on one side to the new 3-wire plug. Anyone been through this before?

I've never seen it but you may be able to compare the service manuals for both to look at the plug pin-outs, etc. to see if you can revise the connections to work for you. The service manuals have the complete wiring diagrams in the back of them.
