Default SERT tuning help

I have an 07 Heritage softail. I installed a set of Vance & Hines big shot long shots and a K&N 3910 air cleaner. I'm getting ready to install a SERT and wondered if anybody else has already done a set up like this or had suggestions onwhat base lines to start with.

You only have one map to pick from

Cal #67 -- 159AE003-A0.MT6
2007 Shotgun / Shorty Dual Exhaust with O2 Sensors
Components:
25deg Injectors P/N 27709-06
SE Air Cleaner and Breather Kit P/N 29440-99C
Race Exhaust

Don't worry your mods were what this map was designed for. Install it and ride itfor a while and it should self tune and get you real close. If your not happy or needmore take itfora dyno tune.

For those that doubtit will self tune in open loop. Here'smy dyno sheet for my RKC.Four run madeafter203 cams. Nochanges were made between runs, but you can see it wasmaking more power after each runadjusting for the new cams. Even though it's an open loop situation (AC and Muffs and SERT were installed several months prior). The two lower runs were madebone stock...same bike, same dyno(Noterepeatability).

I was just going over the canned maps and came up with the same one. Did you do all your modifications at the same time? How much more difference did the cams make over the air cleaner and pipes?

I did the A/C, Mufflers and SERT last fall. I did the cams over the winter and it hasn't been above freezeing since so I haven't been able to ride it yet. The A/C and exhaust will most likely be your best "bang for the buck" and acount for most of the top end gains as thats were the stock setup starts restricting air flow. The cams should help out on low end torque...guess i'll know more this spring.

I installed the V&H Big Shots Staggereds, SE AC with K&N element, SERT and this map from the SERT CD:
Cal #67 -- 159AE003-A0.MT6

It runs fine but I may have it tuned on a dyno at some point when my dealer gets their new dyno going.

Installed map #67. Went out and put about 50 miles on it. Seems to be running great, put it throughthe gears and rpm's. No popping, spitting or hesitation. Got it up to about 80 mph, it was a little chilly today maybe only 70 (sorry midwest guys). As an old knuckle, pan, shovel guythis sure beat spending the time doing runs and changing jets( until the ECM goes south). It took me about 5 minutes to load the map. If I can find someone reasonable with a dyno I might run it. I know guys that havegone to thestealers here. They charge $95.00 per hour with a 5 hour average to dyno a bike. Fortechs who aredoing this every day with minor upgrades and starting with a canned map thats way out of line.

You are smoking some serious Chit and could not be more wrong. The system doesn't operate the way you think. Your results are either warm up fuel, engine temp or a different gear. The H-D EFI DOES NOT self tune simply by making WOT runs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like I got a big one (Goin' Fishing - bet I catch a whale!!!) I figured you would eventually chime in....wasn't sure if I used enough bait though.

We only logged the WFO pulls. It had plenty of time cruisingin differentgears before recording each run. Don't worry it was up to temp and warm up fuel ratio at 0% and all logged runs in the same gear.I'm only reporting my data which indicates that the ECM is doing something more than running HARD codedparameters when in open loop.

SERT tuning help?
Maybe you could providesome of your data and knowledge. You have obviously tuned numerous07's. Please sharesome of your before and aftergraphs. Maybe even provide a little insight or "HELP" for all us novice.

I'll bite on this one. There is no 'self tune' in open loop mode. No way, no how, impossible, not gonna happen. You'll getcorrectionin closed loop mode because the voltage at the narrow band is guiding the mixture to 14.6:1 even if the VE tables are a bit off. To do a proper tune,You have to manuallycorrect the VE tables for both the front and rear cylinders based on ANY change that effects the volumetric capacity of the engine. Back to the original post, the canned HD stage one map will only work with basic slip on's not a full exhaust. The only way to do this is take the bike to a dyno or buy the twin scan 88+ and do it yourself. I've tuned several bikes and think the twin scan is the way to go with the Delphi.

Keep in mind these bikes are rich at WOT in factory and stage one tune. That might explain why your bike's A/F ratio was not off the chart. If you want to see log and tuning jpegs, I can post plenty of 'em if anybody's interested.
